Primary Phonics course
For registered attendees only
Our Primary Phonics course is aimed at those working with children age 5-7, but is also invaluable for anyone working further up the school with any child challenged by spelling in writing and decoding in reading.
The training course covers:
• basic phonics theory
• the scope and sequence for the seven stages of phonics
• lesson plans for each stage
• modelled lessons
• assessment and resources
Includes the 80-page Primary Education Phonics training manual with a scope and sequence for teaching, full lesson plans, assessments and QR codes for videoed lessons.
This training course is offered as either a live webinar (2x 4-hour sessions or 4x 2-hour sessions) or in-person (6.5 hours).
Course instructor
This course is taken by Yolanda Soryl. For more information about Yolanda, you can read her biography here.

What you need to know
Our webinars use Zoom. You do not need a Zoom account to attend but you will need to download and install the Zoom App.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email (check spam folder). This email will contain the link to access the webinar but you must also then register in Zoom to confirm your place prior to the day.
On the day, click on the link in the email 10-15 minutes prior to the course start time. This is especially important so we have time to team up people from the same schools for the chat rooms.
WHAT YOU NEED
• pen and paper
• a mini whiteboard, pen and something to clean it
• your computer’s camera and microphone enabled (for breakout sessions)
• a copy of the Zoom instructions – download
• a quiet space and a good internet connection
• headphones – recommended to improve audio
